Extractions & Dentures

Sometimes a tooth is too damaged to save. Advanced decay, a deep fracture, gum disease, or crowding can all put a tooth past the point where a filling or crown will hold, and leaving it in place puts the teeth around it at risk. At Valley Wide Dental in Huntsville, we only recommend an extraction after we’ve looked at every option to keep your natural tooth. When removal is the right call, we take time to explain what’s happening, keep you comfortable throughout the procedure, and send you home with clear instructions for healing.

Losing teeth changes more than your smile. It affects how you chew, how you speak, and over time it can change the shape of your face as the jawbone loses stimulation. Dentures rebuild that structure. A full denture replaces an entire upper or lower arch, while a partial fills in gaps and clasps onto the healthy teeth you still have. Each one is made from impressions of your own mouth, so the fit, the bite, and the shade of the teeth are matched to you rather than pulled off a shelf. If you’re considering a longer-term option, we can also talk through implant-supported dentures, which anchor to the jaw for added stability.

Many of our patients have both procedures handled in one coordinated plan. Immediate dentures can be placed the same day teeth are removed so you’re never without a smile, then adjusted as your gums heal and settle over the following months. We’ll see you for those follow-up visits, check the fit, and make refinements until eating and speaking feel natural again.
